Not a hand out, but a Hand up

Working to help veterans and their families.

A Not for Profit: 501 C 3 Number 56-2658445

Overview:

The Veterans’ Transitional Center assists veterans and their families who need help with housing and employment services.  Special attention will be given to veterans who have barriers to employment and who have not achieved adequate social, psychological or vocational readjustment as a result of their military experience.

Veterans, who have lived through traumatic incidences, often have multiple problems associated with themselves and their significant others, problems with work and social relations as well as problems related to their military experience that require specialized readjustment counseling and related services.

The Veterans’ Transitional Center will serve as part of a multi-disciplinary team that provides veterans and their families with community outreach, counseling, therapy, treatment, direct services and referral to the VA and other community resources.

These counseling and therapeutic services will range from routine to complex and crisis intervention, which may include suicide prevention. Short and long-term treatment will be provided for veterans exhibiting  Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, with or without other psychiatric disorders and/or readjustment problems.

The Veterans’ Transitional Center duties and responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

1.     A safe and drug free living environment

2.     Conducting intake and needs assessments of veterans and their family members

3.     Working with partner agencies to develop comprehensive treatment plans for adjustment/readjustment

4.     Clinical case consultation to specialist/technicians on highly complex cases

5.     Follow-up evaluations with clients

6.     Employment counseling for job preparation

7.     Family counseling

The overall goal of the Veterans’ Transitional Center is for the veteran to become self sufficient.

We need your help, so we can help those who have sacrificed on behalf of our nation.
